He's worked out the way to the top. David Fairlamb of David Fairlamb Fitness is the successful motivator behind one of the North- East's premier personal fitness companies. Raised in Tynemouth, David, 35, started his career in fitness under the sunny skies of Long Beach, California, before returning to his Northern roots.
Combining business acumen from his university studies in business with sports science, David put his skills in motion, attending premier fitness instructor training. David Fairlamb Fitness was born, growing from just one client a week to the enterprise which now employs a number of male and female trainers, a highly qualified nutritionist, masseurs, sports psychologist and life coach.
His latest move in a fast-track career was opening a private personal training gym in North Shields, where he currently resides. His success has brought him into the public eye with numerous interviews and press articles written. He has also had his own TV slot and given advice on the radio.
Where do you live?
North Shields.
How long have you lived there?
Five Years.
What's your dream home?
An old stone house, looking out onto beautiful open countryside. It must have a log fire and of course Sky Sports!
How do you get around? (walk, car, public transport, private jet)
I receive a huge amount of stick over this, as my gym is only a few minutes from my home and I tend to drive. I have two excuses: I'm am usually rushing off somewhere later in the day and don't have time to pop home. If my clients don't see my car they may think I'm running late, therefore, wait in the car and miss a few crucial minutes of their training. They should know I don't run late!
What is your favourite part of the North-East?
Allendale, most of the family either lived or had links there. We used to have a cottage and I worked most of my school holidays on a nearby farm. Loved it!
What is your favourite building in the region?
The Sage, it looks fantastic, although I haven't been in it as yet.
What is the best holiday you've ever had?
St Lucia for beauty and relaxation. Malia for friends and laughs!
What's the favourite thing in your home?
A fridge full of fresh food.
If you could have one luxury what would it be?
Time off! I don't get any!
What are you working on at the moment?
What I work on day after day: making my clients look and feel great.

My beautiful daughter, Georgia, I adore her.
Where is your favourite place in the North-East?
As above, Allendale.
What is your favourite shop?
Hammonds, Frederick Street, South Shields, was the best home textile shop in the North-East and was in our family for over 100 years. Sadly it has recently closed. My dad's happy, though, he has his feet up now.
What is your favourite restaurant?
Sabatini's in King Street, Newcastle.
Favourite pub?
Any and many.
Favourite meal?
A Sunday roast.
Are you any good at cooking? Do you spend much time in your kitchen?
